| Non Resident External (NRE) Account
NRE accounts are maintained in Indian Rupees by remittance of foreign exchange through
normal banking channel. The deposit and interest accrued is repatriable in any convertible
currency at the prevailing exchange rate as per instruction of the depositor.
Deposit may be kept in:
- Savings bank account with cheque book facility (minimum balance Rs 1000)
- Current account with cheque book facility (minimum balance Rs. 5000)
- Fixed deposit ranging from 1 year to 3 years.
- Cash certificates (interest invested automatically on quarterly basis) ranging from 1 to
3 years
- Recurring deposit account with monthly installment of Rs. 100 and multiples thereof for
period ranging from 1 year to 3 years.
