Shri A. C. Mahajan joins as the Chairman & Managing Director of Allahabad Bank

Shri Avinash Chander Mahajan who was till recently the Executive Director of Bank of Baroda, has taken over as the Chairman & Managing Director of Allahabad Bank with effect from 1st August, 2006 in terms of the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance (Banking Division), Government of India. Shri Mahajan has joined the new assignment following the retirement of Shri O.N. Singh on 31.7.2006.

A post graduate in Science, Shri Mahajan has rich erudition and varied banking experience for more than three decades in various capacities in Bank of India before joining Bank of Baroda in 2005 as Executive Director. In earlier capacities, he headed Credit, Forex and Integrated Treasury departments. His overseas postings include assignments in various branches and offices mainly in Japan, Tanzania and Kenya among other countries.

He also acted as member of various IBA Committees including IT Steering Committee to oversee the introduction of Core Banking Solutions.
