The Right to Information (Regulation of Fee & Costs) Rules, 2005

As per Govt. of India Notification dated 16.09.2005 the Fees & Costs payable in respect of Right to Information Act, 2005 are as under :-

A request for obtaining information under Section 6(I) shall be accompanied by an application fee of Rs.10/- (Rupees ten only) by way of depositing cash against proper receipt or by demand draft or banker's cheque or Indian Postal Order favouring the C.P.I.O payable at the place where the office of the concerned C.P.I.O is situated.

For providing the information under Section 7(I) the fee shall be charged by way of cash or by demand draft or banker's cheque at the following rates against proper receipt:

Rs.2/- for each page (in A-4 or A-3 size paper).
Actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper.
Actual costs or price for samples or models; and
For inspection of records, no fee for the first hour and a fee of Rs.5/- (Rupees five only) for each 15 minutes (or fraction thereof) thereafter.

For providing the information in printed or in any electronic format under Section 7 (5), the fees shall be charged by way of depositing cash or by demand draft or banker's cheque as per the following rates against proper receipt.

For information provided in diskette or floppy Rs.50/- per diskette or floppy.
For information provided in printed form at the price fixed for such publication or Rs.2/- per page of Photocopy for extracts from the publication.

The demand draft/ banker's cheque should be payable to "Allahabad Bank" and to be drawn on the centre where the office of the concerned Central Public Information Officer is situated.
